Identity Editor
What the Identity Editor configures, field by field, and how it is used during the synthesis process.
The Identity Editor allows you to specify a few concrete attributes that characterize who the agent is. Together with the Core Personality, a detailed accounting of what it is like to be the agent, they form the agent’s complete persona.
The fields
| Field | What it sets |
|---|---|
| Name | The name of the agent or character that will wear this persona. It is a label that will be used throughout NeoThymos as well as in the Character Study and Persona Kit files. Get it right before you lock the persona since it is frozen with other attributes and traits after synthesis and cannot be edited later. |
| Age | The apparent age of the character/agent. Used in portrait generation. Also, layered onto text after deterministic persona synthesis. |
| Sex | The sex (male/female) of the character or agent. Used in portrait generation. Also, layered onto post synthesis text to provide pronouns. |
| Birthdate | The character’s date of birth. Optional, not currently used in persona synthesis or portrait generation. May be used in Persona Kit files for some target environments. |
| Ancestry | A hint at the character’s ancestral homeland used to infer the agent/character’s genetic ancestry. Choices of ‘Randomize’ and ‘Mixed heritage’ are available. Used exclusively in portrait generation. |
| Hair Color | Suggested hair color. Used exclusively in portrait generation. While taken as a strong suggestion this may be affected by age and even personality. |
| Designer Notes | Notes you make to yourself regarding the purpose, nature or use of this persona. The one field of Identity that can be edited after synthesis. |
| Note¹: Currently only sex determined pronouns are supported. Future versions may expand this to include gender based pronouns. | |
| Note²: Yes, personality can affect hair color! We have found some portraits of free spirits with color streaks in their hair. |
How these are and are not used
These are not personality related attributes. Their influence on persona generation is very limited. The lock process that synthesizes the persona (it’s Character Study and run-time configuration files) sees only age. Sex is used only later to assure that pronouns are properly layered on at the end. The other identity attributes are used primarily to drive the portrait generation process and then in a way designed to avoid biasing the prompt used to generate the image.
